Stars rumoured to team up as a crime-fighting duo

Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling are the top choices for Warner Bros’ new law-enforcement drama The Nice Guys from director Shane Black.

The film takes place in a 1970s Los Angeles following the apparent suicide of a once successful porn star. However, upon probing deeper into the death, the two central detectives (one being a ‘muscle-for-hire’, the other a private investigator; both dealing with alcoholism in different ways) begin to uncover a conspiracy.

Since being in the works since 2011, Shane originally conceived the idea for the first Lethal Weapon (1987) film and has since brought it to fruition with co-writer Anthony Bagarozzi. Joel Silver will also be on board as producer, reuniting with Black after collaborating on Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005).

With Crowe’s starring role in L.A. Confidential (1997) and Ryan Gosling’s recent outing as part of the Gangster Squad (2013), the pair seems to be well suited for the project and are sure to deliver believable knock-out performances.

The Iron Man 3 (2013) director is also at the helm of the new Predator sequel in the pipeline.
